Become part of the adventure!
Pop, the zany hologram man, and his magical top take the children on exciting adventures in sound.
While your child will simply think of the Top Talk® Speech Sound Adventure books as fun, action-packed stories, the books will actually facilitate development of their speech and reading skills. The core speech sound of each book is just part of the action!
See inside!
All books in the Top Talk® Sound Adventure series have been written with key emphasis on a particular speech sound, which is cleverly woven into the storyline. You and your child can have fun with the specific sound and words while reading the books together. Titles currently available focus on 'k', 'p' and 'sh' sounds.
Each book has been beautifully illustrated and contains a rich engaging storyline, centred around the adventures of Timmy and Becky, and their zany friend, Pop - the hologram man! The children are encouraged to say sounds as an integral part of the storyline in each journey they take.
See inside for an example:

To this end, they:
- Promote speech development and clarity. (Why is this so important?)
- Improve sound awareness for pre-reading skills
This is unique, as most children’s books currently available focus on letters and not necessarily the corresponding sounds they make. Research shows that speech development and clarity are strongly linked to reading development. This feature is further highlighted in the parent information section and valuable tips throughout the books.
Further benefits include:
- Improving Phonological awareness. (What exactly do we mean by this, and Why is it also so important?)
- exploring saying and hearing the specific sounds at the beginning, middle and end of words and in sentences
- encouraging listening and identifying rhyme
- encouraging development of memory and skills in understanding meaning
